‘Partnering Traditional, Religious Institutions will Enhance Family Health Programs’ – SFH

Society for Family Health (SFH) has appointed Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Bamalli as its ambassador on nutrition, adolescent and family health programs to scale up access to nutrition and improve reproductive health services in Nigeria.

The Managing Director, Society for Family Health Dr.Omokhudu Idogho, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the emir in Zaria on Tuesday.

Represented by the Deputy director Global Fund Malaria Mr John Ocholi said the visit was to seek the blessing of the royal father and to request him to be the ambassador of the organisation on nutrition and adolescent and family health programs.

“When we speak and say his blessings are with us I believed people will listen and support the programs; Our desire is to have healthy Kaduna where women and children are healthy,” he said.

Mr. John Ocholi explained that the organisation was working in 11 local governments of Kaduna state on various projects which include among others the adolescent 360 and Accelerating Nutrition Result in Nigeria (ANRIN).

The managing director hinted that the ANRIN hinges on improving nutrition for children targets households in Zaria, Igabi, Sabon Gari, Birnin Gwari and Lere local governments.

Others are Kubau, Makarfi, Soba and Kauru local governments.

He said the organization would leveraged on traditional and religious institutions to distilled the information down to the grassroots, hence the visit to the emir of Zazzau.

Mr. John Ocholi therefore, appealed to men to allow women and their children to participate in the projects to ensure that health of the family is improved.

Responsding, Amb. Ahmed Bamalli, Emir of Zazzau reiterated commitment to support the organisation to succeeds in its projects.

While commending the organisation for their interventions to enhance nutrition, adolescent and reproductive health services in the emirate.

The Emir noted that the request for placing a logo of SFH should wait till after the final renovation of the palace.
