Chadwick Boseman Wins Another Posthumous Award at the 2021 BET Awards

Chadwick Boseman’s legacy was honored at the 2021 BET Awards with an award for Best Actor for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

The event which took place in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 27th, 2021, also saw the acclaimed Actor honoured in the ceremony’s
In Memoriam segment.

Boseman was up against Aldis Hodge, Damson Idris, Daniel Kaluuya, Eddie Murphy, and Lakeith Stanfield, in the Best Actor category but his critically-acclaimed role as Levee Green in the beloved drama, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, earned him the win.

He had also been awarded posthumously at the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Critics’ Choice Award.

The actor, who died in August 2020 after a private battle with colon cancer, graduated from Howard University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in directing and was recently honoured by the institution naming their newly re-established college of fine arts as the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts.
