Kano State Assembly Assures Speedy Passage Of Tourism Bill

Kano State House of Assembly has reaffirmed it’s commitment in ensuring the speedy passage of the Kano State Tourism Management Board Bill 2020 to boost revenue generation and curtail the spread of drug abuse and all forms of vices in recreational centers.

During today’s plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari the lawmakers argued that, restaurants, hotels and event centers were operating in the state without due process.

While presenting the motion, the Majority Leader of the House, Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari explained that, the amendment of the Kano state tourism management board would pave way for more tourist attraction, promote cultural heritage, curtail the menace of under age teenagers patronizing hotels among others.

He maintained that, if passed into law, the amended bill would make provisions for the establishment of board of directors as well as ensuring the erection of structures and state of the earth facilities in hotels and recreational centers across the State to compete with others globally.

In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker, Alhaji Hamza Zubairu Massu pointed out that, culture and tourism should be practised according to religious teaching, saying that the law was timely due to the high rate of drug abuse among youths.

He urged the lawmakers to expedite action on the speedy passage of the bill due to it’s benefit to the government and people of Kano State.

The Kano State Tourism Management Board bill has scaled second reading after contributions from members representing Sumaila, Gwarzo and Fagge local government areas.
