Jigawa Targets Over One Million Children For Polio Immunization

After spending nine years without single polio case in the state, Jigawa state government has targetted over 1.7 million children to be immunize against the outbreak of the disease.

The State director, Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Sambo Shehu disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the preparation of the exercise schedule to commence on 28th June to 3rd July 2021.

According to him, after spending nine years without polio in Jigawa, now the state government decided to immunize under five years old children with aim to strengthen their immune against the polio disease.

Dr Sambo further explained that, the exercise will cover all the twenty seven local government across the state.

He therefore urged parents, religious and traditional leaders to cooperate with the agency for the success of the exercise. 

The Director pointed out that, about thirteen thousand ad-hoc and agency staff would be deploy for the exercise including 3,060 house to house team that contain three person in each team, 546 special team and 776 staff from the hospital.
