‘Golf Can Be Used To Assess Individual’s True Character’-COAS

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao has described golf as a veritable game for military officers.

Air Marshal Isiaka Amao stated this at a golf tournament held in honour of Commandant of the Armed forces Command and Staff College at the Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim golf course Jaji, Kaduna State.

Represented by Air Vice Marshal Peter Uzezi, the Air Chief explained that military officers have played significant roles in the game, stressing that most of the first golf courses in the country are in military barracks.

He maintained when golf was introduced, it changed the lives of officers significantly, that was why many retired senior military officers picked interest in the game.

Air Marshal Isiaka Amao pointed out that golf does not only satisfy physical fitness requirement, but can also be used to assess the true character of an individual.

He commended the Commandant for improving the standard of the golf course and urged him to sustain the tempo.

Responding, Commandant of the College, Air Vice Marshal Ebenezer Olayinka Alade expressed delight over the honour accorded him and pledged to do more.

The event had in attendance, members of the Nigerian Defence Academy regular course thirty-four, serving and retired officers and their families.

Highlight of the event was planting of a tree in honour of former Commandant of the college, late Air Vice Marshal Osim for his passion towards the development of golf.
