Kaduna Peace Commission To Prioritise Fight Against Gender Violence

Kaduna State Peace Commission says it will give priority to addressing cases of sexual and gender based violence due to its relevance to the mandate of the Commission.

Executive Vice President of the Commission, Mrs. Priscilla Ankut gave the remark when she received members of the Gender and Constitutional Reforms Network in her Office in Kaduna.

She observed that kidnapping and sexual violence can sometimes be interelated stating that the commission will not leave any aspect unattended to in its quest of ensuring peace between people of all categories in Kaduna State.

Mrs. Priscilla Ankut stated that the state Governor, Mallam Nasiru Elrufai in almost all his programmes is very considerate to the plight of Women and therefore provided special attention to addressing their challenges.
She urged Media outfits to make Violence Against People a topical issue in their programmes and advocated that any politician who has record of sexual violence should not be voted into power.

Earlier, leader of the delegation, Dr. Lydia Umar stressed the need for equal treatment to all categories of people and appealed to the Commission to include their request in its community peace building and resilience Programmes.
