Niger State To Pay Medical Bills Of Injured Vigilantes

Niger state government has pledged to pay medical bills of any member of Special Vigilante Corps injured in the discharge of their duties.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello made the pledge while commissioning ten refurbished pick up vans and twenty brand new motorcycles for members of Special Vigilante Corps held at the Police Headquarters ,Minna.

Alhaji Sani Bello who charged them to be cautious to prevent injuries, also enjoined them use all reasonable means within their limit to protect themselves.

The Governor who assured of his administrations preparedness to support members of Special Vigilante Corps said they would be provided with communication gadgets to ensure sucessful operation.

He disclosed that the second phase of the vigilante service expected to commence soon will cover local government councils affected by banditry.

In a remark, Niger State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adamu Usman said they have integrated all vigilante groups to effectively complement efforts of security agencies at safeguarding lives and property.

In an address, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji said one hundred and sixty Special Vigilante Corps members have been trained by the police for the job while more are expected to be formally trained.
