Police Deploys More Personnel Over Insecurity In Zaria

Kaduna State Police Command has ordered for immediate deployment of more personnel to Zaria towards taming insecurity bedeviling some parts of Zazzau Emirate.

The state Commissioner of Police, Musa Muri disclosed this during commiseration and confidence building visit to the Emir of Zazzau on Monday at his palace in Zaria.

Muri Musa equally tasked traditional rulers and residents of various communities to support the Police and other sister agencies in intelligence gathering.

He also advised community leaders to work closely with local vigilantes and assured the emirate of police readiness to address addressing banditry, Kidnapping and other security challenges in the State.

Earlier, the Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs Mr Samuel Aruwan emphasised that the purpose of the visit was to commiserate with the emirate council over the unfortunate incident that happened at Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic.

He said while one student died, two lecturers and an unspecified number of students abducted, another sad incident occurred at Kofar Gayan axis where a number of residents were kidnapped.

According to him, the entourage is in the emirate for confidence building efforts; the armed forces, Police, DSS and other security outfits as well as Kaduna state are deeply concern about the situation and the rest part of the state.

“There is presence of security agencies in the 12 LGAs that made up of Zazzau Emirate.

“But it is not possible for us to be in the entire nook and crannies of the emirate as you know there is a short of manpower and other challenges”

“We are doing our best and also recording success from January to March the Military and Police were able to neutralize about 64 armed bandits apart from many others that neutralize in the cause of air interdictions,’’ the commissioner explained.

In a remark, Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmed Bamalli said the emirate had many police, military formations and training institutions and therefore, urged key stakeholders to look at innovative ways of salvaging the emirate and state from the challenge.

He commended the military on planned to deploy additional military personnel with a view to stemming insecurity in the emirate.

The royal father lamented over the worsened security situation in some part of the emirate.

There were so many villages where the residents could not sleep persistently over gunshots and the village head was crying profusely at the palace over the deteriorating security condition in his domain” the Emir stated.

Amb. Ahmed Bamalli, therefore, commended the government’s efforts over the challenge while appealing for more effort to addressing the menace.

The commiseration and confidence building visit to the emir was led by the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs Mr Samuel Aruwan.

Apart from the Commissioner of Police, the delegation comprises of Air Commodore Kenneth Iyamo, Commander, 453 bases Services Group Nigeria Air Force Training Command Kaduna.

Others are Brig.-Gen. U. T. Okpune Garrison Commander 1 Division Nigeria Army Kaduna, Mr Idris Koya State Director State Security Service and heads of security agencies, many Divisional Police Officers within the Zaria Area Command.
