National Youth Service Corps has organized skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programme to the Prospective Corps members at Yakubu Gowon NYSC orientation camp Fanisau, Dutse.

The state Coordinator, Hajia Aishatu Adamu said the event was organized ahead of the closing ceremony of the passing out of NYSC batch A stream II Corps Members deployed to Jigawa state.

According to her, the management of NYSC introduced the SAED programme with view to reduce the high rate of unemployment among the youth.

She noted that the programme would encourage corps members to be self reliant with different skills they have acquired.

The coordinator also urged the corps members to disperse the knowledge they acquired during the orientation camp to their host communities.

Hajiya Aisha Adamu commended the efforts of the facilitators, camp officials and participants for their maximum cooperation which ensure the success of the programme.

Responding, the Assistant Director Skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development, Mallam Muhammad Umar urged  corps members to use the skills acquired to empower themselves instead of waiting for white collar jobs.

Radio Nigeria reports that the skills comprised solar inventor, agro allied, cosmetology, horticulture, automobile, leather work, fashion design and among others.
