Reps Move For Proper Management Of Recovered Assets

House of Representatives is planning to establish new laws that would ensure efficiency in the management and utilization of all recovered assets for the benefit of million Nigerians.

Speaker of the House, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila stated this in Abuja while declaring open a one-day investigative hearing on the assessment and status of all recovered looted assets from 2002 – 2020.

Represented by the Deputy House Leader, Mr. Peter Akpatason, Mr. Gbajabiamila said the measure was aimed at restoring the confidence of Nigerians that those assets are being properly managed by the present administration.

In a remark, Chairman of the adhoc Committee, Mr. Adejero Adeogun said the investigation was to strengthen the existing legislations and ensure transparency in the management of recovered assets.

While expressing concern over non-appearance of the Chief Executives invited for the investigation, the committee directed the Accountant General of the Federation, the Attorney General of the Federation and Chairman EFCC to appear before it tomorrow.
