Upgrading and improving the power sector has been identified as one of the cardinal objectives of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The minister of power Mr. Uche Aneke made the assertion while declaring open the 2021 maiden retreat of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) held in kano.

Mr. Aneke explained that the power sector and the Nigeria Electricity supply industry was very significant to the socio economic development of all nations.

The minister who was represented by the permanent secretary, federal ministry of power Mr. William Alo, maintained that the retreat was timely as it will provide the management of NEMSA a condusive environment for improved service delivery

” The retreat should be regarded as a Clarion call for all staff of NEMSA to satisfactorily strive at accomplishing the VISION,MISSION and MANDATE of the agency”

Earlier in his remarks the managing director and chief electrical inspector of the federation, Engineer Peter O. Ewesor, pointed out that the aim and objective of the retreat was to enhance the capacity and capabilities of the critical category of the managers in NEMSA through interaction with seasoned experienced and competent resource persons to ensure increased efficiency and higher performance.

He noted that, enforcement of technical standards and regulations, inspection, testing and certification was an important aspect of managing the growth of Electricity industry of any nation.

“Staff of the agency have been trained and retrained to uphold the doctrine of quality and safety in rendering technical services that will ultimately ensure safety of use of Electricity,safety of lives and property not only in the NESI but nationwide”

The maiden retreat themed “Building a virile Technical Enforcement Capacity for Achieving Safety and Sustainable Power Sector Development” was attended by management staff of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), staff of the federal ministry of power, and other dignitaries from federal government ministries and parastatals.
