NSCDC Arrests Fake Army Officer In Maiduguri

Borno state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCDC has paraded a 22 year old suspect Abubakar Mohammed impersonating as a military officer.

At a media briefing in Maiduguri, the state Commandant Abdullahi Ibrahim said the suspect was arrested along Damboa road at about 1:30 in the morning with military uniform.

According to the Commandant, Abubakar Mohammed who claimed to be a captain of the Nigerian Army was arrested along with one Garba Audu who claimed to be a member of civilian JTF.

He decried the rising cases of criminal activities using military camouflage in the state, which informed the special patrol.

“We want to assure the good people of Borno state, we will not rest on our oars to see that crime and criminality is reduced to the bearest minimum. We will continue to partner with other sister agencies to achieve these results”.

In an interview, the suspect Abubakar Mohammed confessed to the crime claiming that the uniform belong to his brother who is a military personnel and took it without his knowledge.

The Command also paraded 12 other suspects for committing various crimes ranging from burglary, phone snatching, violation of curfew hours and syphoning of petroleum product to unknown destination.

Commandant Abdullahi Ibrahim also said between January and May this year, the Command has intercepted 21 Jerricans laden with petrol, over sixty empty jerricans, one rickety bus and 15 kilograms of leather that is being used for the production of sachet water.
