Zamfara Gifts Media Houses, Others Vehicles

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has presented nine Peugeot 406 cars to the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Radio Television and Theater Workers Union RATTAWU and all media outfits based in the state.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Bala Bello Maru at Government House Gusau , Governor Matawalle said the decision to distribute the vehicles to media outfits was aim at easing cost of transportation and other difficulties faced by the organisations due to the covid-19 pandemic.

He described the media as a bridge between the government and public in disseminating information about government polices and programs as well as a platform for receiving feedbacks.

Matawalle further explain that his administration had awarded contracts of over 560 million naira for renovation and supply of equipment for the Zamfara Radio while 957 million naira had been approved for the construction and supply of equipment to Zamfara State Television Station.

The Governor urged media practitioners to always verify and double-check their facts before going to press noting that by doing so, they would help in preserving the dignity of the press and upholding its long-standing ethics. 

Speaking shortly after receiving 406 wagon for Radio Nigeria Pride FM Gusau, the General Manager of the station Malam Mujitapha Ramalan thanked the governor for the gesture which he describe as a great donation and timely.

Similarly, cars and cash prizes were given to winners of the Zamfara Radio Ramadan Quiz Competition who participated when the Governor featured on the annual event.
