COAS Pledges To Overcome Security Challenges In The Country

The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru says the Nigerian Army will overcome the recent drawbacks experienced in some parts of the Northeast with renewed vigour and counter operations. 

The Army Chief stated this while briefing newsmen shortly after an operational brief at the headquarters theater command Operation Lafiya Dole, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.

General Attahiru who is visiting the Theatre for the fifth time noted that constant touch with troops and their commanders in the frontline will reinvigorate them to do more.

He restated the commitment to the Nigeria Army to the counter insurgency operations until Boko Haram in subdued.

“In military operations ago, we have defeated Insurgents severally. If for one time they came and we lose certain equipment even though they will never defeat us, I can assure you that we will overcome notwithstanding whatever had happened. We will take on Boko Haram decisively and we are committed to the focus of the entire operation, which is their total annihilation from Nigeria”.

The Chief of Army Staff reassured President Muhammadu Buhari’s resolve to provide the needed human and material resources to execute the war on terror and other forms of criminality across the country.

Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahitu later visited wounded soldiers during the recent encounter with insurgents in Mainok, Borno state where he urged them to remain resolute and committed to defending the territorial integrity of the nation.

Earlier, the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Farouq Yahaya appreciated the Army Chief for the regular visit.

He described the visit as a moral booster and pledged to do more to ensure safety and security of people in the region.
