A fire outbreak had destroyed the data processing center of the Independent National Election commission, INEC office in Kano.
Confirming the incident,the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service,Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi explained that the fire had razed the entire building and destroyed equipment and other valuables.
“At about 10:21 am,we recieved a call from Hassan Dalhatu that a building of ground floor about 80*30 ft used as INEC office,one data processing center and one administrative building offices was gutted by fire”
Meanwhile, the cause of the incident was yet to be known as all efforts by journalists to speak with INEC officials proved abortive,as they refused to comment unless authorized by the headquarters to speak on issues relating to the inferno.
In a similar development, the Kano State Fire Service had also recovered the body of a 28 year old man,Habu Usman from a pond at Kureken Sani Kumbotso Local Government Area.
Saminu Yusuf pointed out that the man disappeared into the pond during local swimming and was retrieved unconscious and later confirmed dead by health officials.
” We recieved a call from Kureken Sani that one Habu Usman has drowned during swimming,our officers attached to Kumbotso local government area immediately swang into action and recovered the body unconscious,the body has been handed over to his family after being confirmed dead by medical personnel”
The Fire Service urged the general public to report any case of fire disaster, drowning, collapsed building, accident among others to the agency through its 24 hour telephone numbers or the nearest fire service office.
