FG Committed To Skills Acquisition For Youth Empowerment

The FG is to support the Industrial Training Fund in its mandate of empowering Nigerians with requisite skills as well as building capacity for effective service delivery.

Minister of Industries, Trade and investment, Otumba Niyi Adebayo stated this at the 2020 Industrial Training Fund Merit Award held at the Fund’s Headquarters in Jos.

He said with some policies on ground such as the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, the Economic Sustainability Plan and various Support Shemes, Federal Government was determined to lift the Country out of poverty and unemployment.

Represented by the Director Human Resources of the Ministry, Mr Samuel Alabi, the Minister said the ITF had a role to play in this regard.

Governor Simon Lalong represented by Secretary to the Government of the State Professor Danladi Atu said the State has been partnering with the ITF in lifting many youths out of poverty and give them sustainable means of livelihood.

In his address, the Director General of the ITF, Sir Joseph Ari said they had commenced the process for the Implementation of more Skills acquisition programme that would train about twelve thousand Nigerians between three to six weeks in various trades.

He noted that the Fund would continue to implement welfare packages to motivate the workforce for optimal performance.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to various categories with Lagos Island emerging as best performing office.
