NAF Intensifys Search For Missing Officers, Aircraft

Nigerian Airforce in collaboration with other security agencies have intensified efforts to rescue the two officers missing in action and the aircraft during an operation in the Borno state. 

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao stated this during an Easter luncheon with personnel of Air Component Operation Lafiya Dole and 105 Composite Group in Maiduguri.

A Nigerian Air Force Alfa jet was declared missing on the 31st of March after losing radar contact while conducting an air interdiction mission.

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka declared as false video clip circulating on social media alluding that the aircraft was shot down by suspected insurgents, stressing that the air accident was caused by other factors which would be made public soon.

He assured that the officers and the aircraft would be recovered.

Air Marshal Amao said the Nigerian Air Force would not be deterred by the unfortunate incident until the entire northeast was rid of criminal activities.

He urged troops in the frontline to remain focused and dedicated towards achieving the mandate given to them by the President.

The Air Component Commander Operation Lafiya Dole Air Commodore Nnamdi Ananaba said the luncheon was aimed at bolstering the morale and spirit of troops who are not opportuned to celebrate Easter with their loved ones.

Air Commodore Ananaba reassured the commitment of the Air Component Operation Lafiya Dole to sustain the fight against insurgency and bring sustainable peace in the northeast.

The Easter luncheon was attended by the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, some serving and retired senior officer from headquarters Nigerian Air Force.
