NITT Zaria, Key To Sound Transport Education-FG

Federal government says Nigeria Institute of Transport Technology Zaria is one of the key Institute that will play vital role in implementation of the policies and programmes of the present administration in the transport sector.

Minister of State for transportation, Senator Gbemisola Saraki stated this when she visited Governor Nasiru Elrufai at government house, Kaduna.

Senator Gbemisola Saraki said they are in Kaduna for official visit to the Nigeria Institute of Transport Technology Zaria to access and further assist the Institution where necessary in discharging its responsibility to Nigerians.

According to Senator Gbemisola Saraki, the Institute has being given the necessary support to carry out it’s mandate of providing the required training for employees and stakeholders in the industry including sustainable and basic research that would lead to development in the sector.

The Minister called for more support from Kaduna state government towards development of the National Transport Databank which is aimed at generating the require data on the transport system in the country.

Senator Gbemisola Saraki also requested the state government to extend its support toward the intelligent Transport System Centre which would focus on continuous and sustainable sourcing and integration of transport Technology solutions.

She further appealed to the state government to continue patronizing the Institute for the training and retraining of kaduna state staff within the Transport sector.

Responding, Governor Nasiru Elrufai revealed that, the state government is planning to have light rail system that would aim to improve transportation in the state.

Governor Elrufai appealed to the Minister to consider increasing the frequency of train services from Abuja to Kaduna and also intensify protection of the rail line from crossing by Animals and humans to enable the trains run faster.

He assured that Kaduna State Government would work closely with the Institute to provide the necessary support needed for the development of a national transportation databank.

Governor Elrufai commended the Institute for it various Initiatives aimed at improving the nation’s economy.
