NGO Laments Increase of Malnourished Children in Kano

A non Governmetal Organization named Civil Society Scaling-up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN), has expressed dismay over increase in number of malnourished children in Kano state.

CS-SUNN National Project Manager, Mr. Okoronkwo Sunday made this known during a one-day sensitization workshop held in Kano.

He said the the gathering was to establish media roles and responsibilities to mitigate the menace of malnutrition in Kano

Mr.Okoronkwo Sunday urged media and other key stakeholders to continue working assiduously until infant, and maternal mortality is reduced to the barest minimum in the state.

Earlier the CS-SUNN Coordinator in Kano State, Hajiya Zainab Aliyu Musa, explained that there was the need for the Kano Government to ensure more funds are allocated to the cause of taming malnutrition in the state.

In a Remark, Kano commissioner of Budget and planning, Alhaji Nura Muhammad Dan Kade noted that the state had earmarked N300 million aimed at preventing malnutrition and promoting exclusive breast feeding amongst nursing mothers in the state.

The workshop tagged “Partnership for Improving Nigeria Nutrition Systems (PINNS)’’, attracted participants from various ministries and agencies of Kano state Government.
