Defense Headquarters Extends Medical Outreach To Kano Communities

From Abdullahi Jalalluddeen, Kano.

The Nigeria Defence headquarters have reaffirmed it’s commitment in extending medical outreach to the people with the aim of addressing common diseases that affect the health status of the general populace.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Lucky Irabor, stated during a two-day free medical treatment of 1,000 persons in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.

The Chief of Defence staff who was represented by the commander Armed Forces Specialist Hospital Kano Colonel Vincent Enemona Abu said the gesture was aimed at improving the health status of people at the grassroots.

He said the objectives of the exercise was to educate people of Bichi local Government area on the commonest ailment that affects many people especially hypertension and Diabetes.

“We are here to educate them ,screen them for hypertension and Diabetes,and those that have issues we refer them to Armed forces specialist hospital Kano”

Colonel Vincent Enemona Abu maintained that over one thousand people benefitted from the gesture,saying one thousand children were also dewormed while five hundred mosquito nets were given to pregnant women and children.

Speaking while sensitizing the Gathering on the effects of diabetic melitus a lecturer with Faculty of medicine Bayero University Kano professor Oluko Andrew attributed the causes of the Diabetes to lack of body exercise, prevalence of Obesity and overweight and lack of maintaining balanced Diet among others.

In her remark a Dietician ,Dije Sule Kabara sensitize the gathering on the importance of eating nutritious food to human Health,and how people would utilize local food in promotind the health of people living with different types of illnesses amied at improving there health status.

Earlier the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado-Bayero,thanked the Defence Headquarters for the conduct of the exercise in the area.

The exercise themed the Role of Diet in the Management of Hypertension and Diabetes was attended by many people from Bichi Emirate.
