Traditional Rulers, Custodian Of Culture And Traditions-Ex Gov

Traditional rulers have been described as critical stakeholder and custodian of culture and traditions playing a vital role at ensuring security of lives and properties of their subjects.

Former Minister of works and transportation Malam Yahaya Abdulkareem stated this at Kotorkoshi during an event to mark the 60th anniversary of the emir of kotorkoshi Alhaji Ahamed Umar.

Malam Yahaya Abdulkareem said royal fathers can be of helpful giving the opportunity to make contributions in finding a lasting solution to the problems bedeviling the nation.

He advocated for reinstatement of status of the traditional institutions in the Nigerian constitution and the establishment of relevant bodies for national development.

The Ex Minister who was also the former governor of the old sokoto state described emir of kotorkoshi Alhaji Ahmed Umar as an icon, hardworking, honest, and committed to his primary responsibilities.

Speaking earlier, the emir of kotorkoshi Alhaji Ahmed Umar said he was turbaned as emir by the late Sultan of Sokoto Sir Abubakar III in march 1961.

He urged his subjects to always remained calm, law abiding, hardworking, dedication and committed as well as to become good ambassadors of the emirate, state and the country in general.
