Update: No Pupils Missing After Gunmen Raid Primary School – Kaduna Govt

Kaduna State Government has confirmed the abduction of 3 teachers by bandits in Rema Primary School, Birnin Gwari Local government Area of the state.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Mr. Samuel Aruwan announced this at a news briefing following an attack by bandits around 8:50 am on Monday at Rema Primary School.

According to Mr. Samuel Aruwan, the bandits invaded the premises of the school on motorcycles “This led to 2 pupils going missing. We are happy to inform you that the 2 missing pupils identified as Ahmad Halilu and Kabiru Yahaya have been found; We can also confirm that no single pupil was kidnapped from the school”.

He emphasised that aside from the 3 teachers kidnapped, no pupil was kidnapped from the school.

The Commissioner who also stated that the bandits rustled several cattle and went away with 5 motorcycles and other valuables, said the Military and other security agencies in Birnin Gwari were in pursuit of the bandits to ensure rescue of the kidnapped persons.

He similarly, explained that the troops of the Nigerian Army on patrol in the Faka, Chikun Local Government Area, rescued a young boy wandering in the Forest.

According to him, the boy, identified as Adewale Rasaq was kidnapped over a week ago at the Kudenden area of Chikun Local Government and escaped from his captors while his parents are negotiating the payment of a ransom of about N15 million.

Mr. Samuel Aruwan stated that troops of the Nigerian Army while on aggressive fighting patrol in a forest around Kachia and Kauru Local Government Areas also found a girl, Fatima Lawal, who escaped from bandits.

According to her statement, she was kidnapped about three weeks ago at Randa village, in Kadage, Kauru Local Government.

The two persons were handed over to their families through the Chairmen of Chikun and Kauru Local Government Areas respectively.

The Commissioner emphasised that the State Government was sustaining efforts towards tracking down the criminals and retrieving their hostages, saying that Governor Nasiru el-Rufai is actively engaging critical stakeholders towards the speedy achievement of this objective.
