‘Troops Will Soon Dominate Stronghold Of Insurgents’-CDS

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Iraboh says Nigerian Armed Forces is assiduously working to achieve the mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari of tackling insurgency and criminal activities in parts of the country.

General Iraboh stated this while addressing troops at the headquarters Theatre Command of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maiduguri.

The Chief of Defence Staff accompanied by the Service chiefs was initially briefed by the Theater Commander, Major General Farouq Yahaya in a closed door session that lasted for more than an hour.

He commended the troops for the dedication and resilience despite some drawbacks encountered in the ongoing military operations.

“That did not deter you, you remain committed, you remain resilient, it is worthy of commendation. I thought it is necessary for me to express it to you, so that by extension you tell the rest of your colleagues that are not here. Even though the Theater Commander along with other commanders would be going to the frontlines to pass that commendation to them”.

General Lucky Iraboh assured that Nigerian troops would in no distant future dominate the Lake Chad and other enclaves occupied by the insurgents.

Earlier, the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Farouq Yahaya said the operational visit, which was the second since their appointment, demonstrate the resolve of Chief of Defence Staff and the Service Chiefs to the counter insurgency operations.

He expressed the resolve of the Theatre to conclude the operation soon.

The Chief of Defence Staff and his entourage later visited recuperating troops at the 7 Division Hospital assuring them of continued support.

Radio Nigeria reports that General Lucky Iraboh was accompanied by Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru and Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Auwal Gambo.

Others are Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao, Chief of Defence Intelligence and other principal staff officer from Defence and Service headquarters.
