About 55 million Naira worth of Solar Powered Boreholes, Sanitation and Hygiene facilities have been donated to Kaduna, Jigawa and kebbi states in North Western region of the country.
During the handover of the facilities at Government junior secondary school, Nigeria Air force Base Kaduna, Chairperson, COVID 19 Taskforce of the Victims Support Fund-VSF Mrs Toyosi Akerele Ogunsiji said the gesture was aim at containing the spread of Covid-19 among Teachers and students.
Mrs Toyosi Akerele explained that three schools each were selected from Kebbi, Jigawa and Kaduna states where each of the schools received a solar powered borehole with 4,000 liter capacity overhead tank, 4 hand wash stations, 2,000 pieces of reusable face masks, 25 liters of hand sanitizer, 120 bottles of 500ml of liquid hand wash and 5 cartons of bleach.
The Chairperson reassured that the VSF would continue to render help to vulnerable Nigerians as well as support agencies involved in the fight against COVID-19.
According to her, the benefitting schools in Kaduna state are Government Day Secondary School Ungwar Rimi Bajju, Zangon Katef LGA, Government Junior Secondary School Rimin Doka, Zaria LGA and Junior Secondary school NAF Base Igabi LGA.
Mrs Toyosi Akerele noted that VSF had commenced in earnest the third phase of its intervention where all the facilities provided had been set up for use.
She narrated that the COVID 19 task force of the Victims Support Fund VSF was set up last year march by the VSF chairman, General TY Danjuma- rtd to offer support in terms of food, Personnel Protection Equipment and water facilities for indigent households and communities across the country.
The Chairperson further stated that 54 schools in eighteen states across the six geopolitical zones would benefit from the gesture.
She enjoined the benefiting schools to properly maintained, preserved and utilized the facilities for optimum performance.
Responding, Principal of Junior secondary school NAF Base Kaduna, Mrs Aishatu Bello appreciated the gesture with a promise to make judicious use of the facilities.
