Victims Support Fund Assists Schools With Hygiene Facilities In Jigawa

The Victims Support Fund VSF has donated Water Sanitation and Hygiene facilities to three Secondary Schools in Jigawa state.

The Chairperson VSF taskforce on COVID 19 Mrs Toyosi Akerele Ogunsiji made this known while handing over the facilities to the benefiting schools in Ringim local government area.

according to her, the benefitting schools are Government Unity Secondary School Ringim, Government Day Science Secondary School Wuntai, in Hadejia LGA and Government Girls Secondary School Jahun.

Mrs Akerele Ogunsiji said the gesture was part of the VSF’s contribution to contain the spread of the virus among students and teacher in schools, the state and Nigeria at large.

She explained that each of the schools received a solar powered borehole with 4,000 liter capacity overhead tank, 4 hand wash stations, 2,000 pieces of reusable face masks, 25 liters of hand sanitizer, 120 bottles of 500ml of liquid hand wash and five cartons of bleach.

The Chairperson therefore, said the fund supported the Federal Ministry of Health to set up COVID-19 secretariat and also the NCDC with data monitoring and gathering equipment.

Akerele-Ogunsiji further noted that in the final phase of the intervention, 54 schools in 18 states in the six geographical zones were expected to benefit from similar gesture.

Responding, the Principals of the benefiting schools, Hajiya Naja’atu Ibrahim of GSSS Jahun,  Mallam Aminu Hassan of GDSS Wuntai and Mallam Bashir Adamu of GUSS Ringim pledged judicious use of the facilities.
