Thirty five years after the execution of Major General Mamman Vatsa for plotting a coup, Gulu Vatsa community in Niger state Nigeria and diaspora including his immediate family members have appealled to the Federal Government to grant him pardon.

Speaking to newsmen in Minna on behalf of the Community and the family, former Niger state Commissioner for Information Mr Jonathan Vatsa appealed to all friends and classmates of Mamman Vatsa to join their voices.

Mr Jonathan Vatsa explained that the appeal became necessary inview of the sacrifices made by late Major General Mamman Vatsa to keep Nigeria as one.

The spokesperson who went memory lane recalled how the late General sometimes during his life time return back home with injuries sustained during wars just to keep Nigeria intact.

Mr Jonathan Vatsa also called on friends and course mates of late General Mamman Vatsa to support them in talking to President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency consider pardoning their late bread winner General Mamman Vatsa.

He said they intend to float a foundation in honour of late Mamman Vatsa to cater for widows and orphans which can only become viable if the Federal Government grant him pardon.

Mr Jonathan Vatsa however added that due to the trauma some family members of late General Mamman Vatsa went through two of his children including former Chief of Staff Government House Minna died and advised the Federal Government to pardon him as was done to late Chief Moshood Abiola and others.
