World Hearing Day: Foundation Supports 3,000 Patients In 7 States

A non-governmental organization, Suleiman Hearing and Educational Foundation says it has supported over 3,000 patients living with ear ailment across the seven states of the North West zone.

The Chairman of the Foundation Dr. Suleiman Abdulmajeed Olayinka stated this at a symposium organized by the foundation to commemorate World Hearing Day 2021 held at the Federal Medical Center, Katsina.

Dr. Abdulmajeed Olayinka said the foundation would strengthen synergy with stakeholders for effective service delivery.

He cited the instance of a patient, Muhammad Nura, who travelled overseas for a surgery of N7 million but in vain and was eventually cured of his hearing ailment in Katsina

Dr. Olayinka appreciated the Katsina State Government for encouraging the foundation to render services to the less privileged people in the state.

In a remark the State Commissioner for Health, Yakubu Nuhu Danja gave assurance of the state government’s readiness towards assisting Non-Governmental Organizations that would complement government efforts in the health sector.

In hjs remarks, the Medical Director Federal Medical Center Katsina, Dr. Bello Suleiman represented by Dr Hakim Badamasi said the Ear, Nose and Throat Department of the hospital was renovated and equipped to improve public health.

Also speaking on the occasion, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman represented by the Sarkin Nufe of Katsina Alhaji Ndanusa Yakubu urged parents to always attend health care centers for any complaints of ear problems or hearing difficulties.

The theme for World Hearing Day 2021 is “Hearing Care for All, Screen, Rehabilitate, Communicate”.
