Nomadic Education Extension Agents Receive Training On Conflict Management

National Commission for Nomadic Education has implored modern strategy of addressing herders/farmers conflict through skills Acquisition training for Extension Agents.

The Chairman, Governing Board of the Commission Professor Gidado Tahir stated at the opening ceremony of a 3 day workshop on skills Acquisition and Sustainable livelihoods for Nomadic Education Extension Agents in Kano.

Professor Gidado Tahir explained that inline with government’s directives to finding lasting solution to farmer-Pastoralist conflicts, the agency was focusing on various Skills Acquisition training for extension Agents aim at empowering the grass root become self relient.

” Youths are the major catalyst of conflict among the herders and farmers that’s why we implore the strategy of training them on conflict management and some modern farming techniques, livestock production so that they will stepdown the training to the larger society out there” according to him.

In a remark, Executive Secretary of the Commission Professor Bashir Haruna Usman, represented by the Director Quality Assurance Mr Akim Akinyosoye said the agency had developed promotion of community driven based programme.

He noted that training the Agents on skills Acquisition and Sustainable livelihoods Would reduce poverty among many Rural societies, as well as addressing challenges of kidnapping, cattle rustling,and rural banditry Among others.

The three day workshop training attracted participants from all parts of the federation.
