NGF Collaborates Southern Counterparts In Tackling Insecurity

Northern Govornors Forum has reiterated commitment to work in synergy with their southern counterparts and appealed to them to extend their presence in the Northern part of the country to enable harmonious and peaceful coexistence among citizens and other ethinic nationalities.

Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Plateau State, Mr Simong Bako Lalong stated this while addressing newsmen after their crucial meeting in Kaduna.

Governor Bako Lalong said the forum had resolved to work with Federal Government in tackling the challenges of insecurity in the country to create conducive atmosphere for socio economic development of the country.

According to him, the forum also resolved to to put more efforts in enhancing the security and safety of all schools within their domains, urging security agencies to collaborate with various states government towards achieving the noble objective.

” The Forum further resolved that all States would work in synergy with security agencies to address the intra and inter border porousity in order to arrest illicit and illegal border movement”

Mr Lalong also noted that, Northern Governors Forum resolved to address the menace of * Yan Sakai” Volunteer Vigilante Service Providers in some states through meaningful engagements and legislation.

He pointed out that, the Forum would partner with traditional Institutions, religious leaders and all relavant stakeholders for peace and security of the region as well as the country at Large.

Governor Simon Bako Lalong maintained that, the forum also received various reports, from committees constituted by the Northern Governors Forum and resolved to look into the reports for possible implementation.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Chief of Staff to the President, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Inspector General of Police, Director General States Security Service, Chairman of Northern States Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar.
