Social Protection Programme Will Reduce Poverty: STCN

Kaduna State Government has been advised to provide a separate budget line for allocation of funds and timely release of finances to guarantee full implementation of Social protection program in the state.

National Programme Manager of Save the Children Nigeria, Mr. Kayode Ajumobi made the call at the launch of the Social Protection Policy in Kaduna.

He said full implementation of the Social Protection strategic plan will result in overall reduction of poverty and sustained improvements in the general wellbeing of women, children and the vulnerable in the society.

The Programme Manager commended the State Government’s commitment of a minimum of one percent of the State’s total Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to Social Protection and the ongoing process to develop and enact a law to back up the Programme.

Mr. Kayodde Ajumobi expressed gratitude with the Kaduna State Government for the opportunity given to Save the Children to be part of the epoch-making event,

According to him, they are working with the support of Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office to strengthen Social protection systems to provide technical support for Steering Committees and Technical Working Groups for Social protection programs in some selected states in the country.
