NHIS Introduces New Programme For Non Formal Sector

National Health Insurance Scheme NHIS has introduced a new program that will cover non formal sector across the country.

The NHIS coordinator, Kano State office, Alhaji Mohammed Isyaku Yanmedi stated this during a sensitization workshop organized for Associations ,groups and other individuals in Kano.

He said the newly introduced programme tagged Group, individual and Family was designed for people who were not civil servants.

“The introduced program will serve civil servants, people from the non formal sector and even foreigners who are residing in Nigeria” Yammedi added

According to him, to register under the programme, one will have to pay 45,000 Naira Annually and is at liberty to register 2 additional dependants, while up to 6 dependants at the rate of 15,000 Naira for each person is being required for family Registration.

Mohammed Isyaky ‘Yanmedi maintained that the registration for group start from 2 person upwards at the rate of 15,000 Naira per head Annually.

He noted that so far NHIS had enrolled over 140,000 civil servants working for federal Government in Kano, while the state contributory scheme had enrolled over 400, 000 people under the state government scheme.

Earlier, a senior official of the scheme represented by the zonal coordinator zone B Kano ,Alhaji Ibrahim Labbo said NHIS would not relent in its efforts at ensuring the populace were fully informed on how to access services through the new programme.

Some of the groups, association and individuals from the non formal sector who attended the workshop applauded federal government for introducing the program.
