Journalists Urged To Promote Nigeria Positively

Comrade Issa Aremu

From Awuhe Terfa (Kaduna)

Vice President, Industrial Global Union, Comrade Issa Aremu, has tasked journalists to set agenda that will promote national unity, peace and development of Nigeria.

Comrade Issa Aremu stated this in Kaduna at a press briefing, after observing a prayer session in memory of the first civilian Governor of Lagos State, Lateef Jakande and a former Member of the House of Representatives in the Second Republic, Dr Junaid Muhammed.

Comrade Aremu noted that journalists must at all times showcase some of the laudable initiatives which are currently ongoing in the country, rather than continuously portray Nigeria as a Nation enmeshed in farmer-herder clashes and has been overran by kidnappers and bandits.

The Labour leader stressed that the rest of the world would take Nigeria serious, if news emanating from the country were more constructive and developmental.

The Comrade who also extolled the leadership qualities of both Lateef Jakande and Dr. Junaid Muhammed, urged journalists to celebrate leaders and indeed Nigerians who have contributed significantly to growth and development of the country.

Comrade Aremu regretted that the unfortunate and negative narrative being dished out by some conventional and the social media would further deepen the divide in the country.
