Reverend Yakubu Pam Condemns Recent Attack In Plateau State

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, Reverend Yakubu Pam has condemned the recent attack in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State where 4 people lost their lives.

Reverend Pam stated this at a meeting he held with the Plateau State Police Command to find ways of putting an end to the crisis in some Local Government Areas of the State.

He lamented that the crises in Plateau, which started since 2001 had left the people in pains and anguish noting that the State Government and himself have been working tirelessly to restore peace back to the state.

Reverend Pam said the battle had always been a circle of revenge and urged the people concerned to shelve their sword and embrace peace and development.

He however pleaded with the residents to embrace peace and shun acts of violence.

The Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command Edward Egbuka expressed disappoinment over the attack in Bassa despite meetings and discussions with stakeholders

He said innocent lives going about there daily activities were always victims of attacks and stressed that the only way to resolve conflict was through dialogue between both parties.

The Commissioner noted that police would not relent in its pursuit of the criminals perpetuating the acts, and promised to bring them to book.

The Management Committee Chairman of Riyom Local Government Area, Mafeng Gwallson said his local government has the highest number of IDPs in the State and solicited for support.

He expressed optimism that with the frequent engagement, there will be some level of peace and thanked Governor Simon Lalong for laying a solid foundation for peace in the state.
