Niger State Closes Schools In Bandits Prone LGA’s

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state has directed for the closure of boarding Schools in four bandits prone local government areas with immediate effect.

According to him, the four local government councils are that of Rafi, Munya, Shiroro and Mariga.

Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello gave the directive while addressing Newsmen in Minna following the abduction of students, teachers and family members of Government Science College, Kagara.

Alh Abubakar Sani Bello maintained that such shcools shall remain closed until the situation improved.

He described the situation as serious and sad, stressing that while tension was high Nigerlites should provide useful information to security agencies for necessary action.

On the demand of 500 hundred million naira ransom by bandits, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello said it was not the policy of Niger state government to pay ransom to bandits because they would use those resources for the purchase of additional weapons.

He however explained that government was willing and ready to assist any repentant bandits to settle for other useful and viable venture.

Alh Abubakar Sani Bello who also called on the Federal Government to deploy resources needed to rescue Niger state, gave an assurance that Niger state government would not rest in it’s oars until abducted victims were released.

Radio Nigeria reports that twenty seven students of Government Science College Kagara were abducted three staff kidnapped with twelve family members of staff and one student killed during the attack by bandits yesterday.
