FEC Approves #8.4billion For Dam In Yobe State

The Federal Executive Council has approved the sum of N8.4 billion for the construction of a dam for the Damaturu Water Supply project in Yobe State, North-East Nigeria.

Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu disclosed this while briefing State House Correspondents on decisions reached at this week’s meeting of the council.

The Minister said the approval would help address water supply challenges in the State, caused mainly by insurgency.

He said the equipment will be mostly Solar based and also they are in response to the critical needs of the localities within Yobe state.

Suleiman Adamu stated that the region is a high Sahelian place where surface water is difficult to come.

The minister hoped that by the intervention, the water supply in the region would be greatly enhanced.

Suleiman Adamu said the project has a completion period of twenty four months.
