Kano State Decries Rising Cases Of Child Labour

Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development says it will evacuate street beggars, hawkers and homeless people in the state

The commissioner Dr Zahra’u Muhammad Umar stated this while briefing newsmen in Kano.

Dr. Zahra’u Muhammad Umar explained that modalities have been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise

According to her, thousands of street beggars including women begging with young children, the home less sleeping under bridges and market place will be exacuated, while non Indegenes to be return back to their respective states

Dr Zahra’u who noted that traditional and religious leaders and relevant stakeholders were consulted before the commencement of the operation, decried the rising cases of child labour and molestation as a result of negligence by parents

The Commissioner reiterated Kano state’s commitment in eradicating street begging and other social vices, while urging philanthropists and wealthy individuals to compliment government’s efforts by contributing their quota towards developing the state.
