SUBEB Engulfs N7b Counterpart Fund In Niger State

Niger state government has spent over seven billion naira for payment of counterpart fund of the State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB from 2013 to 2019.

The state Governor Alh Abubakar Sani Bello stated this at the official National flag off of Quality Assurance Training for 2017-2018 fund in Minna Niger state.

Represented by his Deputy Ahmed Mohd Ketso the Governor said the training was to boost and enhance education in the state.

Alh Abubakar Sani Bello explained that the intervention was instrumental to resuscitation of near collapse of educational infrastructure across Niger state.

Speaking, Executive Secretary Universal Basic Education Commission Dr Hamid Baboye, represented by Deputy Executive Director, Technical Dr Bala Zakari who commended Niger state noted that quality assurance staff must undergo competence test.

Also, the state Chairman SUBEB Dr Isa Adamu said to ease the challenges faced by field quality assurance officers at zonal level, the board procured and distributed 17 motorcycles, 5 laptops and desktop among others for continuous quality assurance monitoring.

Dr Isa Adamu explained that the assurance officers would provide professional services of support, guidance, monitoring, inspection, evaluation and reporting on the process of teaching and learning in schools on development and implementation of the curriculum.

Similarly, the State Commissioner of Education hajiya Hannatu Jibrin Salihu maintained that the importance of quality assurance cannot be over emphasised as it boost teachers performance, learner’s achievement and stakeholders participation for a more robust functional educational system.
