Chief Of Defence Staff Pledges To Reinvigorate War on Terror

Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Lucky Iraboh has pledged to reinvigorate the war on terror. 

Major General Iraboh made the pledge when he led the newly appointed service chiefs on a courtesy visit to Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum in Maiduguri.

It was a home coming for the new chief of Defence Staff, Major General Lucky Iraboh and Chief of Army Staff Major General Ibrahim Attahiru who had both served in Operation Lafiya Dole as Theatre Commanders.

Barely a week to their appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari, the service chiefs hit the ground running by visiting the theater of war to assess the ongoing operation.

The Defence Chief said they are committed to fulfilling the mandate of the President by bringing activities of insurgents and other forms of criminalities to an end.

He however called for better collaboration between troops and residents to achieve the task ahead.

Major General Lucky Iraboh assured that the counter insurgency operation would be re-focused to ensure sustainable peace in the region.

The Defence Chief assured troops in the theater, of improved welfare and logistics to enhance their operation.

Responding, Brono state Governor Babagana Zulum congratulated them on their appointment and called for roboust coordination and synergy.

The Governor observed that restoring civil authority in the liberated areas was critical to stabilisation of the north east region.

At the Shehu of Borno’s Palace, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkaneni urged the service chiefs to step up effort to end the menace of insurgency.

Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Awwal Gambo, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Isiaka Amao and other principal officers from the service headquarters accompanied the Defence Chief on the visit.
