Nigeria Customs Service Generates About #9bn

Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara state Command has generated and remmitted over N8.310 billion naira and recovered different contraband items from July 2019 to December,2020.

The State Area Comptroller of customs , Ahmed Hussaini stated this while addressing newsmen on the successes recorded by the command in Ilorin.

Ahmed Hussaini explained that the command generated N6.906 billion naira between January to December 2020 which represent 86 per cent of the year’s annual target as against N2.404 billion naira generated in 2019.

According to him, 3,551 bags of foreign parboiled rice,51 used vehicles, 3,543 kiligrams of Marijuana ,225 kegs of vegetable oil and 30 jericans of petroleum were seized.

Comptroller Ahmed noted that six supsects were also arrested in connection with smuggling during the period under review.

He said the feat was achieved through the command’s effective performance as well as measures put in place to apprehend the economic saboteurs.

The customs boss reiterated commitment to continue collaborating with other security agencies to ensure adequate policing of the nation’s land borders.
