Covid-19: 1,430 New Cases Recorded

Nigeria on Monday recorded another rise in Covid-19 daily infections at 1,430, with 3 fatalities.

About 500 cases more than Sunday’s 964, which brings total number of infections in the country to 122,996, according to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

98,359 have been discharged, with 1,507 death.

Our discharges today include 435 community recoveries in Lagos State and 184 community recoveries in Kaduna State managed in line with guidelines, NCDC wrote on twitter.

National Economic Council has approved over N6bn for the setting up of an oxygen plant to cater for the rising number of infected people who require it.

Last week was one of the worst in Nigeria’s COVID-19 pandemic era as a PREMIUM TIMES’ review of data provided by the NCDC showed that 11,659 persons tested positive for the virus in 7 days (January 17- 23), which is 18 per cent higher than the previous week’s record of 9,880.

The two deaths on Sunday, the lowest in the past one week raised the total fatality toll to 1,504.

With 82 deaths in a week, it represents a 14 per cent increase from the previous week’s record.

100,000 vaccine are expected in the country early February.
