The National Agency for the Control of AIDS -NACA has appealed to Kwara state government to include People Living With HIV/AIDS -PLWHA in its health insurance scheme.
The Director-General of the Agency, Gambo Aliyu made the appeal at the opening ceremony of a four-day capacity strenghtening workshop for People Living with HIV/AIDS ,held in in Ilorin.
Aliyu said the state’s health insurance scheme is capable of ensuring People Living with HIV/AIDS get access to deserving and quality services.
Represented by the Director, Community Prevention Care and Support Services of the Agency, Alex Ogundipe, the Director General said capturing of People Living with HIV/AIDS in the health insurance scheme would take up the challenges of caring for HIV patients properly.
He pointed out that the target of the agency is to stop spread of HIV by 2030.
Aliyu said that the agency has trained over 1,000 People Living with HIV/AIDS on capacity strenghtening in the country.
