Zamfara State Police Command Arrests 4 For Murder, Recover Arms

Zamfara State Police Command has arrested four suspects for alleged murder of a Fulani herdsman in Tsafe Local Government Area of the State.

Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro revealed this during a Press Conference at the Command’s headquarters in Gusau.

The Commissioner said, the suspects were members of the outlawed Civilian JTF known as ‘Yan-Sakai in Kauyen Kane Village for alleged attack and Killing of a Fulani Man named, Malam Babuga Danmallam of Kunchin-Kalgo were arrested in collaboration with the District head, they include Lawal A. Tambai ‘m’, Abubakar Usman ‘M’, Sa’idu Mamman ‘M’ and Ibrahim Adamu ‘M’

According to him, within 3 weeks, the Command had in different operations Recovered 5 AK47 Rifles, 511 live ammunitions, 2 AK47 magazines, arrested 23 suspects, recovered 200 rustled cows, 2 stolen vehicles and a motorcycle.

He noted that the Command had also facilitated the unconditional release of 6 kidnapped victim in collaboration with Tsafe Local Government Peace Committee, rescued other 2 kidnapped victims at Talata-Mafara, foiled an armed robbery attempt along Kwatarkwashi-Tsafe Road and arrested 2 recalcitrant bandits .

CP Abutu who affirmed his determination to free Zamfara state from security challenges said, the peace and reconsideration initiative of the state government was yielding positive results, however non-dialogue approach will be mated on recalcitrants.

He said, among the arrested suspects, 15 who were fingered to have been terrorising people were arrested in possession of Indian helm in Shinkafi Local Government Area of the State by Operation Puff Adder who raided a criminal hideouts in the area.

The Commissioner explained that the two recovered Vehicles, a Toyota Sequo Jeep and Pontiac Vibe with registration number AKD 858 CG and GWL 236 TS respectively were recovered in Gusau and at Police Check point at Kwatarkwashi, the Jeep was stolen from Port Harcourt while the Pontiac Vibe was stolen from Kano after the Owner was Kidnapped.

He added that the Police led by ASP Murtala Ibrahim who were alerted about the robbery foiled the armed robbery by engaging the hoodlums to a Gun duel leading to the Killing of one armed robber, while others escaped with injuries and recovered a locally fabricated gun and a Cutlass.

The command have also intercepted a Tanker DAF CE with registration number ANC 61 XA loaded with Diesel diverted to Gusau from Kaduna as confessed by the driver.

The Commissioner of Police said all the suspects were undergoing interrogations for prosecution, the recovered cows have been returned to the rightful owners and rescued persons would be reunited with their families.
