SOKAPU Urges Government to Strengthen Local Security

The Southern Kaduna People’s Union, SOKAPU says its activities are directed towards assisting Government fight against insecurity and also address hardship faced by displaced persons particularly in the southern part of the state.

President of the Union, Mr. Jonathan Asake who stated this while briefing Newsmen in kaduna, also stressed the urgent need for Government to strengthen vigilante groups which will assist the security operatives in the various communities.

He said the union had embarked on sensitization campaigns for people to be vigilant and report strange movements including sounds of Guns by calling the attention of security operatives.

According to Mr Jonathan Asake, reports received at the SOKAPU Secretariat indicates that over Nine Hundred Million naira has been paid as ransom by various communities to free kidnapped victims from their captors.


He urged Government, organizations and other concerned citizens to go on fact finding missions to confirm their position on the kidnappings and displaced communities in the area.

The President also stated that the Union has set up an educational Foundation to address Educational needs of the displaced persons.
