Ex-servicemen: Governor Zulum Promises To Sustain Support

Borno state Governor, Babagana Zulum has assured ex-servicemen and their widows of continued support and assistance to ease their hardship.

The Governor gave the assurance at a ceremony to mark the 2021 Armed Forces remembrance day at Ramat Square, Maiduguri.

The Governor represented by his Deputy Umar Kadafur reiterated that he is aware of their predicament and will at all time render the needed assistance to give them sense of belonging.

According to him, he contributed ten million naira to families of the fallen heroes when the leadership of the Nigerian Legion paid him a vist, adding that more intervention will be provided to their members.

“We must therefore spare our time, resources and our blessings to remember these heroes always not just in January of every year but in our daily prayers and activities”

Governor Zulum commended the immense contribution of the military and other security agencies in tackling the menace of insurgency and other criminal activities across the country.

Some of the ex-servicemen and widows of the fallen heroes Staff Sergeant Jibrin Ali and Maria Yakubu called on the state government to come to their aid as they no longer have means of livelihood.

They also want the state government to provide job opportunities to their children in order to take care of their aged parents.

Special prayers were offered for fallen heroes, Deputy Director, Directorate of Islamic Affairs, Colonel Auwali Musa, Deputy Director Directorate of Chaplain Services Roman Catholic, Reverend GO Iyaji and that of the Protestant, Major John Olukomogbon.
