Senator representing Kano central, Alh Ibrahim shekarau has vowed to provide more constituency projects in his senatorial district with the aim of uplifting the well being of the electorates.

Malam Ibrahim shekarau stated this while briefing journalist in Kano.

He said as representative of the people in Kano central senatorial district,he had adopted the strategy of constituting a shura Assembly,which comparises of 172 members ,meant for consultation from all wards of his senatorial district with the aim of reaching up to the general populace.

Senator Ibrahim shekarau said since his assumption in office as senator representing Kano central he had focused more on human development,and social justice.

He explained that his priority was to improve education, health and economic wellbeing of the people in the 172 wards within his senatorial zone.

According to him, through the Basic Primary Education Board (UBEC) Shekarau said he provided some projects in some schools in about 15 Local Government Areas of the zone.

“My immediate priority in my constituency projects is how to improve the education sector because it is the bedrock of development.

“We therefore used the available fund allocated as constituency projects to provide some projects at primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in our zone.

Another area of priority, according to Shekarau is health, noting that he would continue to do all he could to provide more projects aimed at improving the lives of his constituents.

In this light, Shekarau said, he provided a road project at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) after consulting the management of the health facility on the project they wanted.

The 1,300 meters long of road network in the AKTH, where first phase of over 800 metres has been completed.

The former minister of education also disclosed that he had facilitated the distribution of N40 million through Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) for empowerment to 40,000 of his constituents at 172 wards.

He said the beneficiaries, who run businesses around N2,000 to N5, 000 capital, we’re given N10, 000 to improve their businesses.

He noted that the reason for the empowerment is that the small businesses make life easy and cushion the effects of poverty.

Shekarau assured the constituents that he would be up and doing to ensure that he facilitate more projects in order to improve the life of the people.
