Jigawa State Water Board Spends Over #1bn Last Year

Jigawa State Water Board has spent over one billion naira on provision of water last year.

Managing Director of the board Engineer Zayyanu Rabiu stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Dutse. 

He said out of the amount #529mn was spent on provision of pipes line at Kazaure water station, 243mn to improve water supply in Dutse town as well as rehabilitation of water schemes in Birnin Kudu, Gumel and Dutse which had cost 43 million naira.

Engineer Zayyanu Rabiu explained that the board had purchased submersible pumps worth 23mn this year while 49 water schemes were converted into solar powered schemes.

He said the state in collaboration with world bank were executing water projects worth 340 million naira in Birnin kudu town.

The Managing Director noted that the board had made plan to improve supply of water in selected local government headquarters in the state.

He therefore called on people to ensure the payment of water bills to enable the board execute more water projects.
