FG Hands Over Erosion Control Projects To KADPOLY

Federal government says execution of projects across the Country demonstrates sincerity of the present administration toward entrenching justice, equity and fair play to all and sundry.

President Muhammadu Buhari stated this at the inauguration and hand over of projects on Erosion and Flood Control in Colleges of Kaduna Polytechnic in Kaduna.

President Muhammadu Buhari represented by Chairman Senate Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, Alhaji Hassan Mohammed Gusau said the inaugurated projects were federal Government’s Ecological Intervention for the 1st quarter of 2018.

He noted that the project would help in addressing flooding and gully erosion menace in the Campuses of Kaduna Polytechnic, saying that, the Intervention would bring huge solace to the School Community.

President Buhari implored the community to Cherish the laudable projects by preventing indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainage channels.

On the request made by Kaduna state government and Kaduna Polytechnic on more Ecological fund projects, the representative of the President said the projects were being carried out step by step for everyone to benefit.

Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Professor Idris Mohammed Bugaje said the project came at the right time when the institution was making effort to rebuild the school.

Professor Bugaje stressed that, the projects was one of the major intervention received by Institution from the Ecological fund since it creation.

He stressed the need for more of such projects in the institution.

The projects inaugurated include construction and rehabilitation of new roads in the two campuses of the institution, and building drainages among others.

The Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund Office, Dr Habiba Lawal noted that, the project was initiated through the request for an urgent intervention from the Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Professor Idris Mohammed Bugaje for the Ecological fund office to arrest the continued flooding and erosion menace within the school environment.

Dr Habiba Lawal represented by the Acting Director, Soil, Flood and Erosion Department, Mr Eluma Garba maintained that, timely completion of the project was made possible through the effort of the project Contractor.

Kaduna State Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Mahmud Hussani who asked for more projects to be excuted in the state, however expressed gratitude to the Ecological fund office for the eighteen projects so far sited in kaduna.
