KADUNA: World Bank Supports 537 Ginger Farmers

A World Bank Project popularly known as APPEALS has introduced technical know how and new machines to boost Ginger farming in Kaduna state.

The state Project Coordinator Dr. Yahaya Aminu stated this during a site seen tour of the product tagged Brown Field Day for Ginger Value Chain in Kachia Local Government Area of the state.

He explained that the World Bank Project is known as Agro-processing Productivity Enhancement And Livelihood Improvement Support Project (APPEALS)

According to him,It is geared towards improving production and procession of maize, Dairy and Ginger for poverty reduction and enhanced Livelihood.

Dr. Yahaya Aminu who was represented by the Kaduna state productivity enhancement specialist, Dr. Adamu Yakubu said Ginger Farmers will be provided with weighing scales, slicing machines and other equipment towards adding value in Ginger production.

The Ginger facilitator of the project Mr. Reuben Sankop explained that mechanical inventions were introduced to standardized Ginger production and facilitate it’s export.

He emphasized that The number of Ginger Farmers that received support from APPEALS Project this year is 537 and it’s targeting 1500 Farmers for next year.

Some of the Farmers, Mrs. Asabe David and Mallam Dahiru Mohammed speak on the assistance they got and appreciate the Appeals project.

The Ginger Farmers from Kachia and Jaba Local Government Areas were supported during the farming season and the Brown Field day was to access the production performance in preparation for next farming season.
