Farmer’s Killings:PMB Orders Army to Boko Haram Hideouts

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the armed forces to completely rout out Boko Haram insurgents by taking the battle to their hideouts.

The President gave the directive when a federal government delegation paid a condolence visit to Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House Maiduguri.

Senate President, Dr Ahmed Lawan said the visit was at the instance of President Muhammadu Buhari to commiserate with government and people of Borno State over the senseless killing of 43 farmers in Koshebe, Mafa local government area.

Dr Ahmed Lawan stressed that fighting insecurity remains the priority of his administration.

He assured that all the needed resources would be provided to prosecute the war on terror in Borno and other criminal activities in different parts of the country.

The Senate President also commended Governor Babagana Zulum for providing quality leadership to people of the State.

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum thanked President Buhari for the sympathy visit, noting that the security situation cannot be compared with that of 2015.

Governor Zulum called on the federal government to recruit more youths of the state into the armed forces and other security agents, engage the services of security forces from neighbouring countries to clear the remnants of the insurgents from the shores of Lake Chad and provide high calibre equipment to Nigeria Police.

HE also want the National Assembly to increase budgetary allocation to the Northeast, as only 45 billion naira was appropriate for capital projects in the 2021 fiscal year.

According to him, fixing the dilapidated roads in the region will address sixty percent of the insurgency.

The Federal Government delegation also visited Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi where the royal father promised to provide needed support to federal government to defeat insurgency.

The delegation was also at Zabarmari to condole with families of the affected victims and offered special prayers for the repose of their souls.

Radio Nigeria reports that other members of the delegation include Chief of Staff to the President, Ministers of Federal Capital Territory, Communications and Digital Economy, Miniaters of State Agriculture and that of Works and Housing.
