2023: Association Urges North to Votes Not Violence

Northerners have been urged to use their votes in electing credible leaders in the forth coming general elections, rather than resorting to unnecessary violence.

Interim Chairman of North West zone of Progressive Movement for Democracy, Comrade Muhammad Auwal Musa gave the advice at an inaugural meeting of the Association in Kaduna.

Comrade Muhammad Auwal Musa who identified the recent ENDSARS protests that led to the destruction of properties worth billions of naira in some parts of the country as one of the major factors that pushed the country to another round of recession, however dissociated the Association from the protests.

He maintained that as a youth based association, the association is poised at providing solutions to some of the problems bedeviling the North such as infrastructural decay, youth unemployment, insecurity and poverty.

The interim chairman disclosed that the association would also put in place, structures at the grassroot levels in all the North Western states with a view to sensitizing the people on the need to elect credible leaders.

Comrade Auwal Musa added that as advocates of good governance, the Association will support a candidate with a good track record from any part of the country, that will address the myriad of challenges affecting the country headlong.

In her remark, women leader of the Association, Aisha Haruna Kabuga decried the level at which Northern women are left behind in accessing equal opportunities particularly federal government loans to boost small scale businesses.

The event had members from all the North West states in attendance.
